Obituary for Stella Mary Gigliotti (Paskaluk)

It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Mary Gigliotti (nee Paskaluk) announce her passing on Thursday, August 27th in St. Joseph’s Hospice, after a short illness.
Born on September 10th, 1925 in Fort William, Stella was the eldest of three sisters and a long time resident of Current River, attending Current River School and Port Arthur Technical Institute.

On November 25th 1952 Stella married the love of her life, William Gigliotti. Stella and Bill shared 58 years of marriage and raised three children.

Prior to having a family Stella worked at the Port Arthur Shipyards building aircraft during World War II and later as a dental assistant, but her greatest joy was being a mother and a homemaker.

Stella was a long standing member of Our Lady of Loretto Church and a 61 year member of the Catholic Women’s League where she made many life long friends. Mom also cherished many happy evenings with her knitting club friends, sharing lots of laughs while creating knitted goods for the church bazaars.

Stella and Bill, in the company of her parents, children, her sisters and their families enjoyed the many qualities of life in Current River. Our lives were enriched with family gatherings at Centennial Park, Evergreen Picnic Area and a special swimming spot at Boulevard Lake, now marked with our family names on a commemorative bench. Rich memories live in our hearts of those precious days. Mom also shared a special bond with her Elliott Street neighbours and greatly looked forward to their annual supper club.

Stella is predeceased by her husband William, parents Josephine and William Paskaluk and her sister Helen Holmquist. Stella will be lovingly remembered by her three children Ken (Sherri) Gigliotti, Mary Jane (Gary) Gravelle and Carole (Jim) Normand and her grandchildren Jade, Joelle (Garrett), Erinn (Peter), Jordan (Tamara), Danielle and Steven, as well as seven great-grandchildren Ryann, Jordyn, Violet, August, Huxley, Makayla and Shay, and her sister and best friend, Betty Shubaly. Stella will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

A kind, gentle and sweet lady has left this Earth. We will be forever grateful that she was in our lives.

Cremation has taken place and the funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto R.C. Church, 290 Grenville Avenue, celebrated by Father Francis Pudicherry.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to the Alzheimer's Society, the Our Lady of Loretto Elevator Fund or a charity close to your heart. On-line condolences may be made at: www.sargentandson.com.
