Obituary for Suzanne Vance

It is with great sadness that the family of Suzanne Vance announce her passing. After a difficult battle with cancer, Suzanne, age 48, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Suzanne was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on December 1, 1972, to Dennis & Lorene Vance. Suzanne was described as a bundle of joy, laughter, and love.

Suzanne loved anything to do with the outdoors. She spent most of her time camping, fishing, and kayaking. As well as being known for her cooking, and baking which was her favourite pass time. Suzanne’s greatest joy was her three children, who made up the entirety of her world, Adam (Jenni), Lexy (Kylan), and Aiden. Suzanne was a fiercely dedicated, strong, independent mother who raised three equally dedicated, strong, and independent children. Suzanne was their biggest cheerleader, protector, and supporter. The family would not be where it is today if it was not for Suzanne.

It would be wrong to say that Suzanne lost her battle to cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Suzanne stayed strong. She proved true resilience and perseverance. Suzanne has touched many hearts throughout her years and her legacy will live on through the lessons of kindness and compassion she has taught us all.

Suzanne is survived by her mother Lorene, and children, as well as her sisters, Michelle Vance and Laurie Vance, and numerous nephews. Suzanne will also be forever remembered by numerous extended family, and her extraordinary friends. She is preceded in death by her loving father, Dennis. The Vance family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Suzanne’s nurses from Saint Elizabeth who had helped the family keep her at home as long as possible throughout this journey.

There will be a small celebration of life for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an education trust fund set up for Suzanne’s youngest child, Aiden Vance, or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation Northern Cancer Fund.
