Obituary for Tanya Lynn Hovinmaki

TANYA HOVINMAKI
(Lehvonen)

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Tanya Lynn Hovinmaki, age 40 years, on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

She was born April 24, 1982 in Thunder Bay to Lorna and Arvo Lehvonen. Raised in the family home in Lappe, she graduated from Gorham and Ware and Hillcrest High School. She excelled in many subjects, particularly math, which led her to further education in accounting and bookkeeping. Tanya, with her very social personality, worked in many restaurants, where she was loved by all her customers and co-workers.

Tanya’s heart was as big as her smile. Her beautiful smile and infectious giggle radiated to those around her. She had a deep love for her family and friends and becoming Auntie Tanya was a very special experience for her. She also loved all animals and always had pets – whether dogs, cats, hamsters or pet rats.

She will be deeply missed by her brother William Tabell (Sheleigh); sister in-law Sarah Tabell (Markku); very special nieces and nephews, Makenzie, Mikaela, Grace and Lauren Tabell and Rory and Raiden Andrechek; former husband, Martti Hovinmaki and his family; aunt Lorraine (Rainer) Partanen; uncles, Ernie (Eija) Niivila, Raymond (Judy) Niivila and Andy (Gayle) Lehvonen; and best friend Cody Roper-Bottomley as well as many cousins and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Lorna and Arvo Lehvonen; brother Jussi Tabell; grandparents, Olavi and Lillian Niivila and Helli Maki, uncles Aulis Lehvonen and Ken Niivila and aunt Eva in Finland.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Sargent and Son. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved mother, Lorna.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.
