Obituary for Tilde Racco

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Tilde Racco announces her passing on April 1, 2021, at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by family.

Born in Gioiosa Marina, Italy on February 3, 1933, Tilde grew up in Saderno Marina, Italy. Tilde married Rocco Racco in 1966 and immigrated to Canada shortly thereafter to join him and his family. In February, 1968, she and Rocco welcomed their only son Mario.

When Rocco passed away suddenly in 1971, Tilde worked hard to support herself and Mario. She worked as a baker for many years at the Royal Edward Hotel and Palma’s Pastries. Tilde loved to be surrounded by family and enjoyed cooking for them when she was able. Even unexpected company would soon find a buffet set out before them. Tilde loved to work in the garden and had a real green thumb. Even when she moved into an apartment, to continued to plant in pots.

Lovingly remembered by her son, Mario and his wife Lorrie, grandsons Alexander, Tyler and Dylan. Also surviving by her step-children Teresa (Egidio) Grassia, Cosimo Racco, Bill (Marlene) Racco, Frank (Maria) Racco, Tony (Ruth) Racco and their families.

Predeceased by her husband Rocco, whom she missed dearly, step-son Joe & his wife Rose Racco, and daughter-in-law Marlene Racco and by great-grandson Cosimo Racco .

A private funeral service was held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
