Obituary for Travis Michael Giertuga

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Travis Michael Giertuga, age 25 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Travis was born on November 13, 1996, in Thunder Bay, On. He loved to go fishing, play baseball, hockey, wakeboarding, snowboarding, hunting and working out. He would love to spend time at camp at Trout Lake and Lang Lake. Travis loved playing with his best friend, his dog Diesel. While talented at many things, he loved welding and began a career working with CN Rail as a welder. Travis had an infectious laugh, he loved to tease his sisters and was always a protective big brother. He always gave the best hugs. Travis loved hard and he fought harder.

Travis will be lovingly remembered by his mother Joelle (John) Macey, his father Trevor (Chelsea) Giertuga, sisters Madison (Dalton) and Juliet, his best friend Diesel, his grandma and papa Simone and Roy Diana, Granny Sharon Giertuga (Ken), his aunt Jennifer (Lewis) Fisher, his uncles Scott (Leslie), Warren (JoAnne), his step-grandparents Gerry (Cindy) Normand, Ron(Katherine) Macey and Elaine (Gerry) Bell as well as numerous cousins, extended family.

Travis is predeceased by his papa Bill Giertuga, Jane Burnell, Olga Giertuga and Eva Stadey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court St. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Sargent Chapel. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so at the Sargent and Son Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Sister Margaret Smith or to the Thunder Bay Humane Society.
