PROVENZANO- Mr. Ugo Ottavio Provenzano, age 84 years, passed away at Bethammi Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Ugo was born in Nicastro, Calabria, Italy on February 21, 1934, the son of Giacinto and Maria Provenzano. In the early 1960’s he sailed on the Bianca Conte Mano to join his brothers Frank, Tony and Pietro in Port Arthur. He was later joined by his wife Elvira and their children Jack and Mary. Ugo and Elvira’s family was complete with the birth of children Daniella and Vince in Canada. Ugo’s greatest love was for his family and he especially enjoyed traveling with them to Italy and going on visits to see daughter Mary in Boston. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be gardening, fishing or mushroom picking, and loved both dancing and going to movies with Elvira. He also enjoyed making his own wine, suprassata, tomato sauce and various preserves. Ugo worked for 34 years with Bombardier and was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and the Italian Cultural Centre, where he loved to spend time in the Club Room with his many dear friends. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Elvira, children: Jack (Michelle) Provenzano, Mary (Michael) Pucci, of Boston, Daniella (Borys) Rusyn and Vince Provenzano; grandchildren: Danielle and Jonathon (Nancy) Provenzano, Joseph, Vincent and Nicholas Pucci, Jessyca and Thomas Rusyn and Christina Provenzano; great grandchildren Mackenzie and Matthew Fernyc as well as by a sister in Italy, many nieces nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Frank and Peter and sister Angelina in Thunder Bay, as well as by brothers and sisters in Italy. A service to celebrate the life of Ugo Provenzano will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Luigi Filippini of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church presiding. The interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held for one hour prior to service time.
