Obituary for Albert Zahorsky

Albert Zahorsky
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert "Abs" Zahorsky at the age of 85 years. Abs passed away peacefully in his sleep June 10, 2017. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1932, his mother and father returned with him to Canada where he spent his entire life in the East End of Thunder Bay.

Abs had a long career with CP Rail. He was an avid golfer and reader. In his retirement years he stayed active socially and intellectually and even took up gardening. He loved coffee time with his buddies at Intercity. He was a regular at Applebees where he enjoyed breaded shrimp with his son-in-law. He loved golf and could be found at "Keefers" swinging his golf club. Many knew him for his tenacious spirit and fierce independence. He was a charming man with a quick wit and sense of humour. Abs lived a full life with no regrets. "He faced it all and he stood tall… He did it his way!" We will miss you!

Albert Zahorsky is survived by his wife Rose, his three children: Natalie (Troy), Darrell (Angie), Colette (Bruce) and grandchildren: Jordan, Quinn, Zane, Christine and Monica Rae. Abs will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Albert was predeceased by his mother and father, Ann and George Zahorsky and his stepmother Natalya Zahorsky.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
