Obituary for Aurelia Mary O'Gorman

Aurelia Mary O'Gorman
June 12, 1927 - Sept 8, 2014

It is with great sorrow that the family of Aurelia announce her death early Monday morning September 8th in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Aurelia was born in Eganville Ontario to Mary and Michael Duggan. She was one of six children. The family moved to Schreiber Ontario when Aurelia was a young child and subsequently moved to Fort William.
Aurelia married Daniel O'Gorman on October 9th, 1948. Together they had 7 children. Her devotion was first and foremost to her church and family. Throughout her 58 year marriage, she was a devoted care giver to her husband Daniel and 7 children. In recent years Aurelia struggled with her own health issues and demonstrated great strength and resilience. Through her faith in the lord, and the help of many health professionals she was able to stay in her home up to a few days before her death.
She was a founding member of the St Vincent De Paul Food bank and a charismatic prayer group at Corpus Christi Church. Aurelia was well read, and had a deep interest in politics, the arts, and current events. She shared her love of Irish culture with her family. Aurelia and Dan travelled to many warm destinations and in 1988 made a trip of a lifetime to Ireland.
Aurelia was pre-deceased by her husband Daniel, granddaughter Danielle, her parents, Sister Shirley Angus, Brother Thomas Duggan, and numerous brother and sister in laws. She is survived by her children Dana Baker (Jeremy), Glenn O'Gorman, Shirley-Ann Sauermann (Heyno), Joan O'Gorman, Lynn Nowlan (John), John O'Gorman (Irene) and Nancy Callaghan (Clay), 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her twin sister Loreen Massicotte (Cecil), sister Virgina Kohar, and brother Terry Duggan, Sister's in Law Rose Colosimo, and Llona O'Gorman, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many health care providers who showed such compassion; St Joseph's wound care, St Elizabeth's home care, Thunder Bay Emergency staff, Dr. Gravelle, the 3b nursing staff and the many other physicians who attended to Aurelia's care.
We can't express enough our gratitude to Dr Stewart Kennedy and staff for the many years of kind and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 12th, 2014 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00am in Corpus Christi R.C. Church, celebrated by Rev. Alan Albao. A private interment will follow in St Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel at 21 N. Court Street on Thursday evening September 11, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 pm. In lieu of Flowers donations to the St Vincent De Paul Society at Corpus Christi Church, or the March of Dimes would be greatly appreciated. On-Line Condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
