Obituary for Charles Hamer Mr.

Charles Joseph Hamer It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather, on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at the age of 67 years. Charlie was born in Port Arthur, Ontario in 1945 to parents Donald and Jessie Hamer. He went to school at St. James Public School and Lakeview High School. He worked for Provincial Papers as a Millwright for over thirty-two years. His family was most important to him, caring for his grandchildren and supporting everyone in his family, including his parents as they got older. Charlie had various hobbies and interests including; fishing, going to stock car races, cross-country skiing and going for long walks with Mary Ann and his dogs. Many hours were spent listening to a wide variety of music, from country to classical. He had a great love for the outdoors and could often be found puttering in his yard. He enjoyed many adventures to Florida, Mexico and Las Vegas. He was a very dedicated pet owner through the years to all of his dogs, Ginger, Cassidy and Braxten. Charlie had a very strong work ethic and built a beautiful family home at McKenzie Beach. He was a perfectionist in all tasks and projects. No one would argue that he had the greenest grass on McKenzie Beach. He had a very unique sense of humour and was well known for his not so politically correct jokes and comments. If he didn’t agree with someone, they would be sure to know. A family man, a friendly person, and a good neighbour who was always there to lend a helping hand. Charlie, is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 36 years, his daughter Jessica Sarnowski and her husband Brian and their three children Marissa, Samaira, and Colsten. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Maureen) and his younger brother Tom (Sandra). He is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Dave), Jolie (Tom), Nicole (Mike), Scott, Tim and Kyle, brothers in-law, Dominic and Mike Fiorito. Pre-deceased by his parents Donald and Jessie Hamer, in-laws, Nick and Filomena Fiorito, sister-in-law Joanne Hamer. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 11:00am at the Sargent and Sons Funeral Home 21 N. Court Street. A private family internment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com Peace be with you Charlie
