Obituary for Concetta Costanzo Rizzo

Costanzo Rizzo- After I did what I could, she gave me a smile and thanked me. She gave me more than I gave her. Concetta Costanzo Rizzo was born on April 9 1939 in Borboruso Cosenza Italy. It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and nanna who passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 16 2014.
Concetta immigrated to Port Arthur in 1957. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. Mom’s favorite time of the year was Easter because she loved to bake her Easter egg breads for her kids. She was a simple person with a big heart. In addition to piety, humility and warmth, Mom displayed strength of will, blunt practicality and organizational talent. She was an incredible person. Concetta's life was centered on her daughters Fiorella and Marina and her son Luccio. She was a brave mom. Mom was always sharing her recipes with us and everyone at her table. You're the best Mom. Nanna's cooking was the best. Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving and supportive parents Costantino and Giovanna Costanzo. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son Luccio (Silvana) Rizzo, loving daughter Fiorella (Louis) Nadin and loving daughter Marina Rizzo. She will be dearly missed by all of her grandchildren Dustin, Lucas, Leah and Adrian, whom she was so proud of. She is also survived by her sister Maria Costanzo, niece Nina (Michael) Morrow and their children Jonathan and Micaela, nephew Danny (Allison) Ariganello and their children Michael and Haley, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her infant son Saverio (February 2, 1958). In honour of our mom the traditional church bells were rung by her special Zio Natale Palermo in her home town of Borboruso Cosenza Italy.
Funeral services for Concetta will be held on Tuesday April 22, 2014. The procession will be leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. to St. Anthony’s Church. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. The entombment will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, followed by refreshments at the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel where we will celebrate the life of Concetta. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st from 5-7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Chapel where the Vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy please consider a donation to St Anthony's Church or to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation. Condolences may also be offered online at www.sargentandson.com.

Prayer to Mother Teresa:
Make us worthy Lord, to serve our fellow men throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger give them through our hands this day their daily bread and by our understanding love, give peace and joy.

We love you mom.
