Obituary for Edwin Vibert

VIBERT- Mr. Edwin John Vibert, age 86 years, a resident of Rosslyn Village, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Friday, September 12, 2003. Edwin was born February 21, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec to Edwin and Susan Vibert. The family settled in Rosslyn Village in 1924. Edwin attended S.S. #5 Paipoonge School and Vocational High School. He began his working career in the Rosslyn Brickyard. After thirteen years, he moved to the Vancouver area of British Columbia. There he worked in the woodworking trade for another thirteen years, becoming an excellent finishing carpenter. Returning to Thunder Bay in 1958, he joined A.J. Wing Construction Co. Ltd. where he remained for 24 years until his retirement. Edwin was a member of: Local 1669 Carpenters' Union; a founding member of Paipoonge Volunteer Fire Department; a faithful parishioner of St. Mark's Anglican Church, Rosslyn Village; an avid golfer and long time member of the Municipal Golf Course. A well respected member of the Rosslyn Community, Eddie was always generous with his time and talents by helping others with his building skills. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Betty (Gordon) Dixon, here from Sechelt, B.C., brothers: Art, here from Burnaby, B.C., Russell (Ollie), and David (Arlene) of Rosslyn; sister-in-law Laurie Vibert as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie, brother Ronald in infancy, parents Edwin and Susan and brothers Ken and Milton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Anglican Church in Rosslyn with Rev. Deborah Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in Stanley Hill Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
