Obituary for Elsie Malvina Kirkpatrick (Keller)

Mrs. Elsie Malvina Kirkpatrick, age 93, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Transitional Care Unit in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. She was born to Fred and Della Keller in Socrates, Saskatchewan on February 15, 1921. She was raised in Glentworth, Saskatchewan, then moved with her family at age 16 to Durham, Ontario. In 1947 she married Eric Kirkpatrick and they adopted two children, Lynda & Larry. They farmed together on the family farm near Shelburne, Ontario until retiring in 1978, then moved into Shelburne. In 2001, she moved to Jasper Place in Thunder Bay, Ontario to be closer to her daughter and family.

She is survived by her daughter: Lynda (Allan) James, of Thunder Bay; two grandchildren: Rosemary (Brad) Bida and Suzie (Tom) Pfingsten; and four great-grandchildren: Brody and Evan Bida and Ethan and Kaitlyn Pfingsten; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Eric, in 1989; her son, Larry, in 1981; brothers Howard and Wesley Keller; sisters Irene Keller and Muriel Stokes.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Elsie Kirkpatrick will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court St. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will take place in the Shelburne, Ontario Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or charity of choice.
