Obituary for Emily Paulin

PAULIN- It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Emily Gail Paulin announce her passing at the age of 91 on November 25, 2015 at St Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay. She was born on January 24, 1924 to Katherine Kowbel in Rostern, Saskatchewan. Hard working and spirited, Emily spent many years as a lead cook in bush camps. Always elegant and dignified, she took great pride in her home and welcomed people from all walks of life with open arms. She was a caretaker until the end of her days, looking after others even when she was ill, showing endless compassion. She loved to watch her late husband James play and sing with his band at local gigs. A great sense of humor and wit, she could joke with the best.
Emily will be sorely missed by her granddaughter Heather Mah of Montana, brother William (Kathy) Shewchuk of Prince Albert, and brother-in-law Larry Clason of Thunder Bay. She is predeceased by husband James Bye, mother Katherine Shewchuk, brothers Bernie and Harry, sisters Pauline and Phyllis.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 30 at 1:00 in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. Visitation begins at noon. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the St. Joseph’s Foundation would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
