October 10, 1923 - June 30, 2014

Mr. Frank Tibishkogijig, age 90 years, a resident of Whitesand First Nation passed away peacefully with his family by his side late Monday, June 30, 2014. Frank was born and raised in Mojikit, resided in Zig Zag and Ferland then in the late 70's he and his family moved to Armstrong, ON and settled in Whitesand First Nation where he remained a resident. Over the years, Frank had been employed by CN, Ontario Hydro and various exploration companies. Frank "Old Man/Papa", lived a very full life. He was a very well respected Elder of Whitesand FN who respectfully shared his traditional knowledge, wisdom and guidance with his community. When he spoke, his words held meaning and reverence. Frank "Old Man/Papa", enjoyed life in his traditional homeland where he enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends laughing and joking around. He had a very hearty and amusing sense of humor. Frank "Old Man/Papa", will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Caroline, sons Gabriel and Chris (Lori), sister: Mary Willoughby and sister in-law: Liza Head, brother in-laws: Harry, Victor, Gerry and Joe Head, granddaughters: Shannon (Larry), Lisa (Lionel), Roberta (Adrien), Lydia, Crystal and Alura, grandsons: Clifford (Hope), Randy (Melanie), Wayne, Douglas Jr. (Dawnis), Darin, Derek (Natalie), Joshua and Tarcisius, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, nieces: Stella Gustafson, Cecilia Kwandibens and Nora Thompson. He was predeceased by his wife Amelia, parents Peter and Elizabeth, daughters; Sarah, Jeanette, Doris and Kathleen, sons: Arthur, Kenneth, Douglas Sr., Noel, Ronnie and Peter John, grandchildren: Gloria-Jean, Kristen, and Gabriel, sister: Mary Tibishkogijig and brother in-law: Tommy Head. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Visitation will continue in Whitesand FN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Snows R.C. Church (Armstrong, ON). Interment followed by a luncheon will be in Ferland, ON.
