Obituary for Joseph Wills Mr.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Elgin Wills at the T.B.R.H.S.C. peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Welland on October 26, 1930, Joe grew up in Niagara on the Lake, where he lived life to the fullest. From a very young age Joe had a love for collecting stamps, coins and automobiles. In 1955 Joe graduated from the Ontario Police College and enjoyed serving as an O.P.P. Constable for 32 years. Most of these years were spent between Schreiber and Thunder Bay. After retiring in December of 1987, Joe continued to be very involved in several organizations and committees. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 1130 for over 40 years, a member of the Fr. Baxter Assembly of the 4th degree, the Ontario Provincial Police Association, the Loyal Order of Moose #947, Boy Scouts of Canada, Thunder Bay Stamp Club, Thunder Bay Antique Car Club, curling and bowling. He loved his many visits to various coffee clubs with a great many friends. Joe was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and supported and enjoyed them as much as possible. As of late Joseph and Elsie enjoyed living at Hilldale Gardens Retirement Home. They have made many new friends with the staff and Residents alike. Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years Elsie (nee Goyman), daughter Sandra Lanoix of Hearst (Robert, Jonathan, Katelynn), son Mark of Winnipeg (Donna, Andrea, Kyla and Greg), daughter Maureen (George Hanna), son Joseph of Brantford (MaryLou, Sarah, Samantha) daughter-in-law Lee-ann Wills (Amy and Abby), sister Kathleen Fenyvesi of Welland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joseph is predeceased by his youngest son Jody in 2011, his sister Patricia Cardiff and his parents Elgin and Elizabeth Wills. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at Corpus Christi R.C. Church on Monday, January 28, 2013 where family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Corpus Christi R.C. Church with a Vigil Prayer Service beginning at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Columbus Centre on South May Street or the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. On-Line Condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
