Obituary for Kathryn Madge Ailey

Kathryn Madge Ailey
Kathryn Madge Ailey passed away peacefully at her home Roseview Manor on Friday October 28, 2016, just a couple months shy of her 100th birthday. Madge was born on January 13, 1917 in Port Arthur, ON. to James and Edith Dillon.

She was employed by Zellers and retired after 31 years of service. Madge was a long time member of the Rebecca Greenstone Lodge, ending as a District Deputy President.

She was also a Life Member and Past Matron of the Argyle Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star. Madge was the last surviving member of her sewing club that started in the early 1940s. During WWII she worked at Canada Car and was likely one the last "Rosies of the North". Madge's hobbies included playing bingo and being a member of the 55 Plus Centre where she enjoyed playing euchre for many years. Madge loved to travel and she travelled coast to coast in Canada and the United States. She had many warm vacations with "the gang" and loved England and her travels overseas. She has always loved dinners out and belonged to the Roseview Dinner Club. She also was able to participate in the Hagi camp adventures with her friends from Roseview Manor.

Madge is survived by her three daughters Susan Jerome and husband Bill, Betty-Lou Archer and husband Robin, Debby Dinsmore and husband David and by daughter-in-law Cynthia Ailey, as well by her grandchildren Bill Jerome, Michelle Talarico, David Jerome, Jen Messenger, Chris Archer, Drew Archer, Keith Ailey, Melanie Ailey, and Ingrid Dinsmore as well as 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Perras and numerous nieces and nephews.

Madge was predeceased by her husband Alfred Ailey in 1992, her son Donald Ailey in 1994 and by her brother Robert Dillon.

A very special thanks to the dedicated employees who loved "Madgie", she became their spoiled "little princess". Roseview truly became her home and you her family for 9 years! Your kindness and efforts didn't go unnoticed over the years.

A special family celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay or to the TBRHSC – Northern Cancer Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
