Obituary for Lucy Wood

Lucy Wood
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lucy Wood, age 88 years, with her family by her side at the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Lucy was born in Alcona Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Felix and Anne Goretzki, on August 17, 1929 the second youngest of seven children. Lucy met her future husband Duncan while working as a cook in the bush camps around Sioux Lookout. On May 20th, 1950 they were married and shared the next 54 years together before Duncan’s passing in 2004. Together they raised six children. Mom’s main interest was her family and her home. Her garden and flowerbeds brought her great joy. Mom always stated living in the city was not for her and she loved the country life. She was very talented with knitting, crocheting, sewing and had an artistic nature to her. Lucy was famous for her homemade baked bread and blueberry pies. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Lucy will be deeply missed by her daughters Marsha and Sharon (Richard), sons Larry (Alexis) and Eric (Tammy), grandchildren: Paul, Charlene, Sandra, Jeremy, Ryan, Shaun, Bryanne, Jonas and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Olga, brothers Bob and Ed, son-in-law Danny and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Duncan, daughter Diana, son Allan, parents Felix and Anne, siblings Helen, Sam, Felix and son-in-law Jim.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Rev.
