Obituary for Mae Poole

Poole- It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of (Annie) Mae Poole at her home at Dawson Court on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Mae was born in South Gillies, Ontario to Joseph and Lavina Woods and was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay. Mae worked at various jobs during her lifetime, like the sewing room at Eaton's and the Port Arthur Clinic where she made lasting friendships , but her main focus was always her home and family. She loved to make big family dinners and bake cookies for her grandchildren. Mae enjoyed traveling with Gordon to British Columbia and southern Ontario to visit family. They also spent many winters in Tucson, Arizona and they loved when family came to visit. Mae is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gordon Poole, daughter Rena Harkema (Jim), son Lorne Morency (Jackie), step-daughter Sheree Kukko (Toby) and step-son Gordie Poole (Carol), daughters-in-law Kerry and Elaine, her grandchildren; Darren Harkema, Jay Harkema, Jamie Harkema, Andrea Mickelson (Eric), Gary Morency, Kerrelyn Brown (Shane), Deanna Morency, Adam Viljakainen, Erika Bishop (Andrew) and Shawn Poole (Lisa), great grandchildren; Sienna Morency, Keanna Morency, Thaddeus Brown, Jesse and Justin Poole and nieces; Marjorie Hayter (Alan) and Shirley Love (Bill) and sister-in-law Virgie Mior. She was predeceased by her first husband Gilbert Morency, son Glen Morency and step-son Pat Poole, sister Zelda McCluskey (Harvey), brother Jack Woods (Lillian) and sister-in-law (Toots) Wilkinson. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration Of Life will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street with Diane Matson presiding. A private interment will follow the reception at the Sargent Family Reception Centre in Riverside Cemetery.
