Obituary for Margaret Evelyn "Mardy" Haverstock

Margaret Evelyn "Mardy" Haverstock
Margaret Evelyn “Mardy” Haverstock, age 87 years, passed away peacefully at her Roseview Manor home on August 23, 2017 with her loving daughter by her side.
Mardy was born on December 13, 1929 in Port Arthur to parents Emil and Alice Caporale (nee Squier). She attended Central School, Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and Business College. She was employed at Superior Lumber for several years, as well as a local daycare and Zellers. Mardy was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay and enjoyed skiing, golf, fishing and camp life. She married Phillip Haverstock in 1953, becoming a wife, mother and active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mardy volunteered for over 25 years, visiting the elderly within the community and using her extraordinary empathy and organizational skills to be a touchstone and a welcome sight for many.
She treasured the relationships she developed with family, friends and neighbours and strived to provide encouragement and practical assistance to those she knew, when they needed it most.
Mardy is survived by her daughter Janet (Alan) Shiers, her grandsons Phillip Frederick and Samuel Patrick (Brittany), great grandchildren Matthew Patrick Peter Jackson and Lily Leanne Shiers and her daughter’s in-laws Helen (late Frederick) Shiers, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mardy was predeceased by her husband Phillip Haverstock, her parents Emil and Alice (nee Squier) Caporale, brother Thomas Walter (Mavis) Caporale and nephew Mark Caporal. She was also predeceased by her in-laws Henry and Katey Haverstock, brother-in-law John (Bernice) Haverstock and sisters-in-law Margaret (Alfred) Hurst, Emily Keunster, Mary Haverstock, and Kaye Haverstock.
God bless you, Mardy. Rest in peace.
