Obituary for Mario George Darosa

It is with extreme heartbreak that the family of Mario Darosa announce his unexpected death at 48 years of age on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center after a very brief illness.

You could search the world over, and never would you find a more kind, loving, funny, amazing, and genuinely good person. His smile, his infectious laugh, his love of a good time spent with family and friends, his ability to make friends with complete strangers, his love of a practical joke - all of these made Mario into the wonderful and amazing person he was. When Mario was around, there was never a dull moment - especially if The Cobra was out.

Mario was one of the most hardworking, dedicated employees to be found, and over the years was employed by Bruno's Contracting, Great West Timber, and although it took him away from his family and friends for two week stretches, most recently for KAP (Kiewet-Alarie) on the Lower Mattagami River Project - and on his home time from KAP, you could often find him managing the Dog Lake nightclub known as Chickens.

Mario was predeceased by his father Luis Darosa, his mother Paulina Darosa, as well as numerous beloved aunts and uncles. Left to miss Mario are his wife of 22 years Rose, his children Kimberly (Tim) and Darian of whom he could not have been more proud; his mother-in-law Rose Abbott; his brothers and their families, Louis, Nicole, Victoria and Dylan; Jimmy, Wendy, Bailey and Kaden; Paul, Kim and Emma; his best friend/sidekick/brother Sergio Costanzo; his brother-in-law Eddie Abbott, Judy and Selena; and so many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Mario's family would also like to share how extremely proud they are of the fact that as an organ donor, he was able to help four individuals have a second chance at life, and that because of him, their families will get to enjoy more time with them.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 9:00 am in Corpus Christi R.C. Church, celebrated by Rev. Jerin Louis. Interment in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 pm. Should friends desire, memorial donations to P.R.O. Kids Thunder Bay would be appreciated.
