Obituary

WHYBOURNE- As Murray Whybourne and Joe Strummer once said: “Without people we are nothing.” Murray Roger Whybourne died unexpectedly of a cardiac event at the age of 63 in his beloved home. He was a man of many passions and to some a bit of a pack rat. Murray collected memories in the details of music, photos, and his house. Often hiding behind a camera, capturing the silence and sadness of Canada's North. A quiet man, which is not to say he was always quiet. He was quick witted and a true conversationalist. His devotion to friends, family, and his business as a real estate appraiser, brought him joy. Murray is survived by his daughters Gillian and Corrina Whybourne, their mother Siobhan Farrell and family Anne Farrell and Everrett Farrell-Johnson. His sister Roberta Wood (Fred) and children Catherine Van-Weilingen (Robbie), Andrew Wood and Ryan Jones (Monique), special family Marlene and Tony Kaplanis, and many many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Dorothy Whybourne, and grandparents Gordon and Alta Radmore. A service will be held June 2nd from 2:30pm - 5:30pm at Mariners Hall, with a tribute at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, an organization dear to his heart. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.

Shocked and saddened to hear the news about Murray. He loved his family, friends and music. So proud of his daughters. He will be missed by many. I didn't get to know Murray very well but our conversations were always great.

Murray you were one heck of a fine fellow; respected and loved by many. You were both a friend and colleague and you will be missed. I have you to thank for introducing me to some of the best music I have ever listened to and while we have only spoken a handful of times since I moved away from Thunder Bay I recalled some of the good times we shared just a few days ago while listening to a CD you made for me a number of years ago. You have been taken from this world far too early my friend and while I am sadden this morning hearing of your passing, I will celebrate your memory. Carol and I wish to extend our sincerest condolences to all of your family.

I was stunned and saddened to hear of such terrible news and I offer my condolences to family at this difficult time.
Murray was the kind of friend we all wished for...if you were in need of a helping hand, some sound advice, a fishing partner or just a quiet chat over a glass of beer.
Murray just happened to be the first man I met when arriving in Thunder Bay more than thirty years ago. Make that the first gentleman, for that would be a perfect description of the man. He always had a cheery hello and genuine warmth which shone through every time we met.
He showed me the ins and outs of steelhead fishing, the best grouse trails and where we could have a great game of snooker, all the while having great conversation and sharing laughs.
Murray, you will be missed. Goodbye old friend.
