Obituary for Norman Oliver Kuusisto

Norman Oliver Kuusisto

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, Norman Kuusisto, into the arms of our Lord on Friday, November 25/16.
During his life, Norman was very involved in many activities; he played highschool football, coached little league, was a scout leader, played hockey while also being an avid curler and golfer.
Norman grew up in the Beardmore area where he met the love of his life, Linda. Together they lived a beautiful life. He was a devoted husband and
family man who lived life to the fullest.
Norman entered the workforce at a young age working for Chapples in Beardmore and driving transport and bus for the CNR. The highlight of his career was his time with the OPP as a constable and tenor drummer in the OPP Pipes and Drums. Norm and Linda had a successful antique shop which was their passion and brought them into their retirement years. You could always spot Norm on Saturday morning driving from yard sale to yard sale looking for treasures.
He will be remembered and greatly missed by his wife Linda of 59 yrs, his daughters Linda Lee Kuusisto, Katherine Jean Lesyk (Taras), Holly Ann Prokopchuk (Alan) and grandchildren Chelsey Lesyk, Jesse Lesyk (Bryanna), Zenon Prokopchuk, Natasha Prokopchuk-Hughes (Garrett), also cousins here and in Finland. He was predeceased by his parents Lempi and Olavi Kuusisto.
A celebration of Norman's life will take place at St. Paul's United Church on Monday Dec 5, 2016 at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon in Lunan Hall. In lieu of flowers donations to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society or Shelter House would be appreciated. Special thanks to the staff at the TBRHSC/2B Unit and Dr Malik and his team for all their care and compassion during this difficult time. On-line condolences can be made at sargentandson.com.
