Obituary for Olga Dowhoszya




Mrs. Olga Dowhoszya, age 90 years, a resident of Pinewood Court and formerly of P. R. Cook Apartments, passed away peacefully at Pinewood Court on Monday, October 6th, 2014, with family by her side. Olga was born on April 21, 1924 and grew up in Westfort attending Crawford Street School and Fort William Vocational High School. In 1943, Olga married the love of her life Michael and was a devoted mother to Richard who was born in 1945. Olga loved spending time with her family on outdoor adventures such as camping, fishing, ice-fishing, or berry picking. She was also an avid gardener who loved to cook or bake for family and friends. Olga enjoyed working in sales for Eaton's of Canada. She was a member of the 55 Plus Centre, River Street where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard or carpet bowling. In earlier years, Olga and Mike frequently participated in square dancing events locally and in Minnesota. She and Mike made many lasting friendships with people from the various dance clubs that they met over the years. Olga especially treasured times spent with all her family. Special times were shared with her great grandchildren Alexandra and Colton, whether it was having dinner on the deck in the summer or watching the kids play sports. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, son Richard, parents Alexander and Mary Andrychuk, sister Rose (Walter) Bunt, sister Jean (Don) Lagergren, and brother Steve Andrychuk. She is survived by daughter-in-law Roslyn, grandsons Michael (Leah) and Steven, great grandchildren Alexandra Elizabeth and Colton Richard John, brother John (Fern) Andrychuk, and sister-in-law Mary Andrychuk. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Interment will take place at a later date. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
