Obituary for Peter Kostesky Mr.
Kostesky- Mr. Peter Kostesky, age 91 years a resident of the Walford and formerly of Atikokan, Ontario, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St. Joseph's Care Group. Peter was born on May 6, 1921 in Bolton, Manitoba to Lena and John Kostesky. On June 24, 1945, he married Ann Olynick and together they farmed in Rossburn, Manitoba until November 1955 when they moved with their 3 children to Atikokan. They resided and worked there until August 4, 2000, when they retired to Thunder Bay. Ann and Peter celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 24, 2005. He was predeceased by his wife Ann in February 2006. He is survived by his 3 children Shirley (Henry) Szumowski of Thunder Bay, son Stan of Logan Lake, B.C. and daughter Betty-Jo Kostesky of Atikokan, 5 grandchildren Tracey, Tina and Marc of B.C. , Cory of Thunder Bay and Holly Szumowski of Sioux Lookout (enroute) and 5 great grandchildren in B.C. Cremation has taken place as per Peter's wishes and a Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15th when family and friends will gather at the "Chapel" of St. Patrick's Cathedral for Funeral Mass celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. at 11:00 a.m. Interment of cremains will take place on May 6, 2013 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at: www.sargentandson.com. The family would like to thank Drs. K. Mulligan, Puskas, Turner and Migay for the care they gave to Peter. The family also wish to thank the staff, especially Joanne R.N. at 3C T.B.R.H.S.C. and Mary Jane on 3 South at St. Joseph's Care Group and Marlene at 4 North- Hospice and Chaplain Barb.
