Obituary for Phyllis Stinson (Watt)

Phyllis Stinson, age 86 years a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Monday, August 3, 2015.
Phyllis was born on July 2, 1929 in Dryden. She spent her days growing up in Port Arthur enjoying figure skating, skiing and lifeguarding along with numerous other sports. Upon graduation from high school she moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba, where she achieved a degree in Home Economics. She proudly supported her academic endeavours with her modelling career. Phyllis returned to Port Arthur where she married and had three children. In 1973 she resumed her academic studies and completed her teaching degree at Lakehead University. Afterwards she enjoyed years teaching at Gron Morgan and Hammarskjold High Schools. Her passions were her family, her cottage at Amethyst Beach, tennis, bridge and swimming. Phyllis is survived by her children Joanne Ballantyne (Doug), Jeff Stinson, Tracey Cameron (Mark), grandchildren Michael, Katie, Christopher, Alex, Cory, Brittany and Donald, as well as her sister Dorothy Cook. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to service time Friday. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at: www.sargentandson.com.
