Obituary for Ray Wallace Keighley

Keighley- Mr. Ray Wallace Keighley, age 92 years a resident of Lakehead Manor, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Born in Port Arthur, Ontario on March 29, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry Robbins Keighley and Prisceilla ( Wallace) Keighley. Ray worked at the Port Arthur Shipyard for many years, before takine a job with the Lakehead Public School Board. Ray served with the Royal Canadian Army. He and wife Vera and their dog Sam enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Time spent with family and friends at the camp at McKenzie Beach and fishing Lake Superior were times that Ray cherished.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Byron (Kristy) Keighley, Becky (Darren) Keighley, Cathleen (Dean) Armstrong, Peter Hardy, Catherine Gibson and Caroline Hardy, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law Lorraine Keighley, Donna Anderson and Margaret Hardy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
He was predeceased by his wife Vera, sons Peter, David and Bill, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Helen Keighley, as well as by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy the family respectfully request memorials in Ray's memory to the T.B.R.H.S.C Foundation- Northern Cancer Fund.
