Obituary for Richard Earl Gallant

GALLANT- Mr. Richard Earl "Dick" Gallant, age 66 years, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 9, 2014 with his family at his side. Dick was born in Summerside, P.E.I. on November 22, 1947 to Ernest and Melina Gallant. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force before working with the Janitorial Staff at Westgate High School and finally with Great Lakes, Avenor and Bowater Forest Products, retiring 2003. He was an active member of the I.U.O.E. Local 865. Dick enjoyed NASCAR, football, golf, traveling to sunny destinations, solving the world's issues at the "Table of Knowledge" at the Westfort Prosvita and could often be seen just sitting in the front yard enjoying a sunny day. His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren and he always looked forward to traveling to the East Coast to visit relatives in P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Gail, children David (Yvonne), Shawn (Wendy) and Jodi (Cliff) Bragnallo, grandchildren: Hayley, Andrew, Ben, Emily and Jorja; siblings Rena (Robert), Lynn (Fred), Donald (Brenda) and Mike (Heather), father-in-law Al "Miff" Smith (Lorraine), son-in-law Michael Bragnalo, sisters-in-law Sandra and Karen (Grant), brothers-in-law Grant (Effie) and Glen (Marlene) as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Melina Gallant, father-in-law Leonard Henry and the mother of his children Wendy Gallant. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Dick's life on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. at the Westfort Prosvita, 721 Gore Street West.
