Obituary for Rose Maki

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Maki on Sunday, March 17, 2013, beloved wife of 59 years to Aulis Maki. Rose was born and raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to the late Paul and Lena Splonick. In her early years, she loved to watch the sports in the community, like hockey, curling and baseball, with her husband and friends. She was an employee of T. Eaton Company for many years where her expertise in fashion was valued. Rose particularly enjoyed the wonderful friendships she developed while playing bridge. An avid gardener, with an eye for beauty and colour, her garden was a work of art. Rose’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and supportive mother to Richard (Karen) and Nana to Catherine and Jillian. In addition to her immediate family, Rose is survived by her loving sister and best friend, Ann Roach, niece Debbie Gougeon and nephews Brian and Barry Roach, as well as nieces and nephews in the Jarvis family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding. The interment service will take place at Riverside Cemetery. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Revera and TBRHSC. As well, there are no words to express the kindness and devotion of Jennifer and Christian Perez and Aiai and Ray Graham. Your rewards will be in heaven. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
