Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Roy Choma can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Roy Choma

Roy  Choma
Mr. Roy Choma Sr. passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with cancer. Roy was born on November 25, 1932 in Thunder Bay. He worked at Abitibi Thunder Bay for 40 years before retiring in 1991. Roy was an avid curler at the Port Arthur Curling Club.

He is survived by his sons Roy (Dawn) and Rory (Donna), by his grandchildren Ashley, Abby and Alex, by his sisters Sylvia, Kay and Elsie, stepchildren Candace and Malerie and hunting buddy Ray.

Roy was predeceased by his father Sam, mother Frances, brothers Pete and Fred as well as his partner in life, Kay Surkan.

A special thank you to Aaron and Lynda from CCAC and the staff at Hospice 4th Floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their special care and comfort.

Cremation has taken place. A private family ceremony will take place at a later date. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
