Obituary for Ruth Marlene Ingram

INGRAM- Mrs. Ruth Marlene Ingram age 78 years, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away on August 20, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospice Unit. Born in Ship Harbour, N.S., Ruth moved to Sioux Lookout to be a missionary at the age of 18. Here she met her future husband Joe Ingram and they were later married in 1956. Working as a missionary was one of Ruth's greatest accomplishments. She later worked for 18 years with seniors and then as a secretary with home care for another 10 years. Ruth really enjoyed working with young people over this period of time. When she retired she moved to Foleyet, ON where she enjoyed making many new friends. After moving to Thunder Bay Ruth became a dedicated parishioner of St. Stephen's Anglican Church and later volunteered with the Mission to Seafarers, both of these activities brought her lasting friendships and great joy.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Joanne (Rebecca McMartin) Ingram, grandson Joey, great granddaughter Taya-Chelyn, and sister Yvonne Crawford of Dartmouth, N.S.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Edward "Joe" Ingram, son Myles Edward Ingram, brothers: Harrison Newcombe, George Newcombe, Gerald Newcombe and Roy Newcombe, sisters: Edna Cruickshanks, Marie Sharpe, Ann Stevens, Helen Eisan, Eldora Slaunwhite, Evelyn Owens, and Vivian Stuart.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Stephen The Martyr Anglican Church (494 Leslie Avenue), with Canon Ed Swayze presiding. All services will conclude in the church. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Should friends desire, memorial donations to St. Stephen's Anglican Church or the Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
