The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Wayne Magill can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Susan & Edwin Zysko
Condolence: Dear Laurie, We are so very sorry to hear of Wayne's sudden passing. He was such a great guy, always full of fun and happiness. We know from your time in Fort McMurray that he was a wonderful teacher. He put the interests of his students first and they valued and respected him. Other teachers loved working with him because he was such a positive person.
We know you loved being in Thunder Bay together and being able to spend time by the lake was always special.
We hope you are taking comfort with family and friends as you share loving memories of time with Wayne. We know he will be missed by many.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with you.
Susan & Edwin

Condolence: Dear Laurie, Murray, Shauna, & Ryan,

Of course you know when Ryan was 14 in hockey at Norwest, Wayne was our manager. I was fortunate then to meet an awesome man. He was a role model for me. He was an intelligent, cheerful man who had the respect of young people because he cared enough to find time to connect with them. I've tried to do that ever since our time together. I always say to the boys I coach in hockey that there are two types of players, those that play the game and those that have the ability to change the game. Wayne Macgill was a game changer in life not only for me but many many others. The world has lost an incredible man. My condolences and big hugs.

Condolence: Laurie and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. When I first heard of Wayne's passing, the immediate image I thought of was him smiling and laughing as he did whenever I was in his presence. He always knew how to warm a room and those around him. He will be greatly missed.

Condolence: Dear Laurie, Murray, Shauna, & Ryan
I am so shocked at Wayne's death and I can't begin to tell you how saddened I am. It has been many years since we have seen each other but the memories from those early years of teaching together in Fort McMurray will never be forgotten. He was a great colleague and friend and his passion for teaching and athletics was unmatched. Please know that others are thinking of you at this most difficult time. Carna MacEachern (Fort McMurray)

Condolence: To Laurie, Shauna and family,

We are truly sorry for your loss. Wayne was a fabulous gym teacher during our years at Hillcrest High. He was such a great motivator and coach to those who had the pleasure to take his class. We consider ourselves lucky to have known him as he left such an impact on many people's lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,

Condolence: I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Wayne Magill, who I had the pleasure to be a student of for several years at Hillcrest High school.

Mr. Magill was one of the good guys to me. An awesome teacher, and always made me feel welcome and capable in gym class, whether it was participating in running, or football, or floor hockey. He never did a double-take on my disability at any time. He did not make me feel different from anyone else, and always encouraged me. Differences were just part of life to him. His students were all there to play, workout and get active together, as equals.

I still remember him calling me Action Jackson and "Jacksy"-- one time particularly asking: "You in net today, Jacksy?" as I pulled the goalie mask on. "Always!" "'Atta Boy"... It's those little things that stick out. Just a super genuine person.

I had some truly great memories in his classes-- and really felt comfortable pursuing my passion for sports. He always let me do that.

I will always remember Mr. Magill and cherish the good times in his classes. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Condolence: Was so saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. I remember him as one of those genuinely nice guys that people just gravitated to, with that great sense of humour and infectious laugh. Enjoyed many of hours of apres ski socializing with Magoo & friends in the bar above of Sundance Ski area. Ran into Wayne again by chance many years later in the cafeteria of Sunshine Village or Lake Louise.
My thoughts and deepest sympathy to you, Laurie and your family.

Condolence: Dear Laurie,

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I don't think I have ever ran into Wayne where he didn't have a smile on his face and jump in his step whether it was inside the arena or out.
