On most Tuesday mornings throughout all 4 seasons, Jamie could be found at the Red River Road location of Coffee Club. He and his cherished pals would sit together and reminisce about adventures past, make merry about the current state of local and national politics, and devote precious time to the changing landscape of their shared circle of friends. I first joined Jamie while in the company of my father, John Nickerson. The 'boys' would welcome us with a friendly wave and skillfully weave in good natured ribbing about most anything. The coffee often cooled while the riddles, stories, and reflections passed from smile to smile. This collection of givers, who I adopted as friends after the death of my father, always made me feel special and part of the whole. Whenever I had the good fortune to visit Thunder Bay, I made sure to visit the Tuesday Morning Coffee Club, and Jamie was the reason. He would stretch out his hand and greet me, while asking about family with genuine and heartfelt interest. The group's conversations would ping pong all over the map, but as an interloper, Jamie's inclusivity always made me feel a part of this special weekly tradition. Jamie will always be remembered by me and the entire Nickerson family as a friend and person who truly cared for others. I have learned the enriching power of Coffee Club conversation, and that is because of Jamie.
